|
The following information is provided to all players to enable them to understand how the league operates. 1. Online League Bylaws The MSSA Online League Bylaws explain every aspect of how the online league operates and all players are expected to read them. The latest version of the Bylaws can be obtained from the MSSA CGBoC website (http://www.mssa-cgboc.org). 2. Game Specific Rules For each of the Computer Games played in the league, MSSA has written a set of Game Specific Rules that specify the game settings, victory conditions and other game specific parameters. All players are expected to read them. The latest version of each of the Game Specific Rules can be obtained from the MSSA CGBoC website (http://www.mssa-cgboc.org). 3. Legs and Rounds The MSSA Online League consists of two (2) Legs. The first Leg is the Provincial Championship and the second Leg is the National Championship. Details regarding qualification for the second Leg can be found in the MSSA Online League Bylaws. Each Leg consists of five (5) Rounds, each of which lasts approximately one week. Each team or individual player must play their allocated matches and submit the results before the end of each Round. 4. The Draw, Byes and League Format At the beginning of each Round the League Umpires will release the Draw for that Round. The Draw lists which teams will be playing each other during that Round. The Draw will be released on the MSSA CGBoC website (http://www.mssa-cgboc.org) via the Tournament Manager. The Draw will list the maps to be used in, and the hosts for, each match. In the event that there are an odd number of teams, one team will receive a Bye (average points). The league shall be played to a Modified Swiss Tournament format with accelerated pairing. 5. Contacting Team Captains After the Draw for each Round has been released, it is the responsibility of each Team Captain to contact the opposing Team Captain and arrange a date and time for their match. The contact details for all Team Captains, including an email addresses and contact numbers, are provided to all Team Captains. If possible it would be appreciated if all Team Captains (or a team member) could be in the mssa channel on irc.shadowfire.org whenever possible. This assists in Team Captains contacting each other. 6. Availability Schedules Although Teams have the entire duration of a Round to contact each other and play their match, MSSA will allow Team Captains to submit an Availability Schedule. This schedule must be submitted in the previous Round so that the League Umpires can attempt to take team availability into account when creating the Draw for the following Round. Please note that while umpires will make every effort to take Availability Schedules into account, extenuating circumstances may prevent them from doing so. In the case of a match not being played both Teams will receive zero points, however: Teams who submitted an Availability Schedule, and could not arrange a match date and time, will not be penalized as long as the opposing Team did not submit a schedule. 7. Tournament Manager The Tournament Manager used by MSSA is available through the MSSA CGBoC website (http://www.mssa-cgboc.org). Team Captains will be able to submit results via the Tournament Manager. Anyone can view the Draw, Results and download Screenshots and Replays from the Tournament Manager. Please note that the Tournament Manager does not work in Internet Explorer. Players can make use of an alternative web browser such as Mozilla Firefox. 8. League Servers Certain Computer Games require access to a server in order to play online. The servers used in the Online League are hosted by iGame. Details regarding iGame server access will be provided on the MSSA CGBoC website (http://www.mssa-cgboc.org). 9. Submitting and Viewing Results Team Captains must submit match results before the end of each Round. If results are not submitted then both teams will receive zero points. Submission of results is performed using the Tournament Manager. Each Computer Game must submit results in the format detailed in the Game Specific Rules.
