  2. Each User can register one or more Players with MSSA (This is useful for those Team Managers/Captains who wish to register all the Players in their Team). Player registration must be completed annually and enables those players to be allowed to compete in MSSA Championships - such Players are referred to as Registered Players.
  3. Each User can enter a Registered Player or a Team of Registered Players into a specific Championship.

KEVIN ROCKS!

The air was electric at the Fountain Court at Sandton City on Saturday, 7 August 2010 as the contestants arrived at the 2010 WCG National Team Trials as sponsored by SAMSUNG.

The eight players who had qualified during the year through the MSSA’s Provincial LAN Championships were all chomping at the bit. It was clear that nothing would have kept the finalists from competing!

The eight finalists present were:

Free State:                    Ryno Gildenhuys (2010 ASUS Free State Champion)

                                    Quintin Sweetman

Gauteng:                       Sebastian Collins (2010 ASUS Gauteng Champion)

                                    Kevin Doran

KwaZulu Natal:            Werner Buter

Nialle Momsen (2010 ASUS KwaZulu Natal Champion)

Western Cape:             Dominic Brummer

Gage Ridley (2010 ASUS Western Cape Champion)

Not only were the eight players excited to be at the Trials, they were all fully practiced and ready to take on their counterparts from all over South Africa.

The WCG song list had previously been circulated to the finalists to ensure that the gamers would be at their best – and they were…

It was expected that the only thing that would really differentiate the gamers from each other was nothing more than Big Match Temperament (BMT).

The Trials were done as a Round Robin where each finalist played against every other finalist under the most grueling of circumstances and while thousands of shoppers looked on in awe at the skill exhibited by each and every finalist.

Between SAMSUNG and MAYHEM, a quality network and electrical service was provided during the entire Trials which allowed the finalists to be at the top of their game.

Right from the word go, the Trials were hotly contested between the players from the Western Cape and from Gauteng.

However, a much improved Kevin Doran rocked the floor and the audience while he demolished all his opponents one-by-one.

His skill could not be matched as he played his way into first place to win the Trials and to earn his place at the WORLD CYBER GAMES (WCG) in Los Angeles later this year.

Special thanks must go to all who helped to make this year’s Trials such a special and successful event (yes, you know who you are), but in particular:

  • Michelle Marder
  • Donald Mullany

WORLD CYBER GAMES TRIALS
Written by Ryan van den Bergh
Friday, 30 July 2010 00:00
Due to the fact that in 2010 rAge is on the same weekend as the World Cyber Games (WCG), Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) together with SAMSUNG have developed an alternative method for determining how the player to be selected for the championship will be chosen.

SAMSUNG together with the MSSA held the qualifiers for the event at each and every Provincial LAN Championships.

Instead of, as in the past, all gamers having to save up their hard earned money and trek to a central location, the trials were held in Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Durban and Cape Town

The 8 finalists from the MSSA Provincial LAN Championships will meet on 7 August 2010 at the Fountain Court, Sandton City for the final trials. It is at such Trials where the winning player will earn his position to officially represent South Africa.

Also, because of all the ground-work that was done last year, the MSSA will have met the criteria to apply for Protea Colours which will be awarded to the gamer selected to represent South Africa at the WCG Grand Final Event in Los Angeles.

This will the first time that Protea Colours may be awarded to a player for the GUITAR HERO™ game.

Thus, after the completion of all the Provincial LAN Championships, the following gamers have qualified for the National Team Trials to select the player who shall be awarded Protea Colours and who shall attend the World Cyber Games to be held in Los Angeles in the USA.

Thus the following individuals are invited to participate in the Trials:

GUITAR HERO™

Dominic Brummer (Cape Town) The Lair
Kevin Doran (Gauteng Championships) Knights Mind Sports Club
Sebastian Collins (Gauteng Championships) Knights Mind Sports Club
Ryno Gildenhuys (Free State Championships) Knights Mind Sports Club
Nialle Dean Momsen (KwaZulu Natal) KZN Gaming
Peter Deon Mybergh (KwaZulu Natal) KZN Gaming
Gage Ridley (Cape Town) The Lair
Quinton Sweetman (Free State Championships) Knights Mind Sports Club
